Scott Anderson formed Forest Builders in 1991 as a subsidiary of the more than
century-old engineering and surveying business known as James Anderson Company. Located in Lake Bluff, IL, he launched the company in response
to the need for the level of quality construction service he noticed were missing as he undertook his work in the field as a civil engineer.
With its parent company focused on providing civil engineering and surveying services, a sister company providing plumbing services, and an ecological consulting practice, Forest Builders has unique access to all the resources required to move your construction project all the way from vision to completion. Since our start , Forest Builder's mission has been to provide
construction services for regular people living throughout southern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois.

WE'VE GOT TIME FOR YOU
At Forest Builders, we consistently hear from people who need to renovate, expand or upgrade their existing homes but who do not have the financial resources to do so in the manner advertised in the glossy pages of design magazines. We are happy to work on starter homes, expand family homes to accommodate children, and help empty nesters create a space that works for their unique needs.
We understand the needs of the regular people who might need real help adapting a home for an older family member or renovating a fixer-upper and are working with a strict budget. Many builders in the area ignore ranches, split levels, and smaller homes, preferring instead to work on flashy high dollar projects that might later be featured in fundraising house walks. These builders don't have time for you and your bathroom remodel or new garage build. At Forest Builders, we do. |
FROM THE TINY TO THE TREMENDOUS
Over the years, Forest Builders has undertaken a wide range of construction projects from the tiny to the tremendous. We have a keen appreciation for the iconic homes from the early 1900s that form the area's character and have completed many significant projects on these classic residences. At the same time, we have serviced other clients requiring more modest improvements or more contemporary styling. And we always appreciate the chance to serve all people with all levels of needs and wants.
Our extensive background in civil engineering enables us to provide superior quality service in all types of construction as we can call upon strong engineering related problem solving skills. In particular, our civil engineering knowledge has enabled us to resolve flooding problems encountered by our clients who did not find relief working with traditional builders. Using civil engineering methodology, we can evaluate a property and determine if the cause of the flooding is the grading of the lot, the exterior paving, or the interior piping. Not only are we able to identify the cause of a flooding problem, but we can also provide the people and the equipment needed to correct the situation.
